About Uthana

Uthana.Org is a non-profit organization initiated by a group of media technology veterans and content developers who have felt the need to contribute their skills to the community by promoting positive messages rooted in our scriptures that have stood the test of times.

We are motivated by the selfless services of generations of our Guru Parampara, Sanyasins, Dasas, Jangamas, monks and laymen who frequented door to door to educate people with lyrics, songs and stories from our scriptures including Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas, Shubhashitas and thoughts of great sages and sadhus who lived and enriched India and the Eastern world for generations.

In this increasingly materialistic and ROI driven world, it is important to understand the pitfalls of the rat race and recognize our limitations and yet uplift our spirits to a higher level by cleansing and tuning our own minds. Uthana is a Sanskrit word to mean “rise up” and this word was chosen based on the influence from the
5th verse in Gita Chapter 6,

ARISE AND AWAKE

Arise, awake and stop not till the goal is reached!

This is derived from the sloka 1.3.14 in Katha Upanishad. It was popularized by Shri Swami Vivekananda in late 19th century

Our Beliefs

We believe media and technologies have a higher impact and we can harness its power to reach more people more often through a variety of touchpoints today. It is particularly important when we have limited time and abilities to reach people one on one as was the case a few generations ago in India.
We are requesting people from all walks of life particularly those in media and media technology to join us as trustees and advisers to donate money, time and offer their help to structure content syndication and extended outreach. We also request help from other acharyas and astikas well versed in our scriptures along with practicing psychiatrists who can offer content to console people and encourage them to our spiritual paths that can open their eyes and uplift their soul,
